Lane Etiquette:

Correct/ ‘Good Lane Etiquette’ will ensure all swimmers receive the maximum benefit and enjoyment out of each training session.

The Order of Swimmers:
-The order of swimmers in each lane will be determined by the coach.

Leaving Five Seconds apart:
-It is accepted lane etiquette all over the world that swimmers leave 5 seconds between
each other before pushing off the wall. e.g. if the first person leaves on the .00, the next must leave on the .05, the next on the
.10 , .15, .20… etc.
If the coach wants you to leave differently, they will let the squads know before the set starts.

Letting Everyone Finish into the Wall:
-When you are swimming with more then 1 person in your lane and finish into the wall at the end of each swimming distance within a set (e.g. after 100 swim. within a set of 4x 100s), please move to the right hand side of the lane ( becoming the left side of the lane, as you face the on oncoming swimmers) to allow the remainder of the lane to finish into the wall. This helps them stop crashing into each other, ‘everyone finishes at the wall.’

Overtaking:
-If you feel the person behind you touching your feet as you swim, you should stop as soon as practical safe to do so, to allow them to pass. The wall is a good location to do so, move to the left of the lane or go under the water if stopping to allow the overtaker to pass. Remember to wait 5 seconds and if there is space for you to continue or not, if not wait an extra 5 seconds after the next person swims past and so on.

General Rules:
- No standing during a lap
- Eyes on the coach when he/she is speaking.
- No talking when coach is speaking.
- Correct Starts / Finishes / Turns
- If you have an injury please let your Coach know, before getting into the water.
- No Cursing & Rude language/ No violence will be tolerated
- Always try your best
